Kayla has been in the horse industry for over 20 years. Her very supportive husband Ryan comes from a horse family and understands her undying love for the sport. After the birth of their son Conor, Kayla decided not to return to her job in the dental field and instead pursue her dream of owning a business in the equine industry, that is how Frank Performance Horses was born.

Now a little about Kayla's past....

Kayla has had a strong passion for horses since as far back as she can remember. She grew up in a very small northern town where there was no riding facilities. Kayla couldn't wait for visits at her grandfathers farm as she would be able to spend time with his horses. In the 1990's her parents decided to move to Sudbury, Ontario  and a few years later Kayla was in the saddle.

Kayla began her riding career on the hunter/jumper circuit. She worked extremely hard to prove her passion (even helping with her coach's riding school) and eventually her parents bought her a horse. This horses name was Northern Spirit AKA Arishka and he forever changed Kayla's life. Standing at approximately 16.3hh he was a giant compared to little Kayla as she was under 5 feet tall. He was Kayla's world and she was determined to spend as much time with him as possible. Her parents were very supportive with her passion for the sport and did their best to make sure Kayla was able to spend as much time as she desired at the farm and that she received  quality instruction. Kayla and Arishka were a perfect team, she practiced hard and he respected his little rider. They had a very successful competitive career on the hunter/jumper circuit until it was suddenly cut short. After returning home from a successful time at the championships Arishka unexpectedly passed. To this day Kayla will say that was one of the hardest things she has ever had to go through in the horse world.

Kayla's parents thought that was the end of her passion for horses but they were wrong. After Kayla was done mourning the loss of her faithful steed she was back in the saddle. Thanks to her wonderful coach, Kayla had many different horses to ride until she got her next mount.

A year later Kayla's parents bought her a young Quarter Horse named Hired Jesten Tyme AKA Aramis. He taught Kayla a lot. He could be very bratty and mischievous but there was something about him that Kayla was drawn to. Aramis was barley saddle broke so Kayla had a lot of work to put into him in order to get him ready for his competitive career.  Kayla ended up relocating Aramis to a local Quarter Horse farm during the off months and returning to her coaches facility for show season. All of Kayla's hard work paid off as she and Aramis were very successful on the hunter jumper circuit. Eventually Kayla was convinced by her friend to try and ride Aramis western pleasure, and for fun, take him into a local all-round show. Kayla accepted the challenge and from there she was hooked. Over a few years Kayla slowly made the transition out of the Hunter/Jumper world and into the all-round Quarter Horse world. They were an amazing team and won many year-end awards. After Kayla graduated college she was working long fulltime hours and no longer had the time for Aramis, therefore, she decided to do what was best for him and put him up for sale.

With the exception of a casual ride here and there once Aramis was sold Kayla took a couple years off of horses to focus on her Dental profession. Her break from horses didn't last too long and Kayla had to find a way back into the sport so she decided to start helping other riders. From there she began working with other horses, buying/selling horses, judging horse shows, coaching, and eventually opening up Frank Performance Horses.
